TL:DR we’re going from 123-ABC to ABC-1234

I’m sure someone will take it as a vanity plate as soon as it is available.

This means somebody out there has a BMW with a BMW plate.
It also means they’re going to have to be careful going into the four letter realm.

My uncle had NC1701D on his Impala SS until he moved to Florida. He wanted NCC1701 but it was taken. Not sure if the dash makes a difference or not. Probably does.
*dreams crushed*

I wonder if that means that Vanity plates will be able to use 8 letters now instead of just 7. That opens up so many opportunities!

They’ve always been 7 with a space (big enough for a dash) so probably not, but who knows? I just hope they get rid of the stupid looking farm.

The WI plate I got back in May has YUY, which I kinda like.
Wisconsin is smart to let people transfer plates rather than make them get new plates every time they get a new car. It takes longer to run out of plate numbers. My parents live in Maryland where you can’t transfer plates. It’s got a similar population to WI but they’re on all these weird license plate number combos where it’s no longer letters and numbers grouped separately, it’s all jumbled together.

Have there been three-letter combinations that were rejected? Yes, he said, and those would include anything the motoring public might consider objectionable, like SEX, XXX, XTC and WAR. I told him I saw THC out there on the road, and he said that one apparently made the cut.
lol

What are they going to replace it with? A can of beer,a bar?

I have a LOT of older plates from previous cars, but costs the same to transfer such old plates as it does for new ones, so I usually just get new ones.

I hope so.

I usually transfer plates for a while, at least until they get chewed up. Easier to remember.

Good luck, ncc 1701 isn’t a valid vanity plate in VA as it would be a valid regular plate.

I just like playing the lotto and seeing what I get from the DMV... sadly I’ve never gotten anything neat like 666-DVL or anything or I’d roll around in that all my life.

I’m going to stalk every DMV to see who has a regular one.

BC changed our plate system last year or the year before. We’ve already gone through ABC-123 and 123-ABC I guess, now we’re onto A12-B34

In my lifetime we went from black on yellow ABC-123, to blue on white ABC-123, to red on white ABC-123, to the current black on white 123-ABC
So this is a pretty big change.

Unrelated: what video editing program do you use for your dashcam videos?

Just Windows Movie Maker.

Nope, we’re on to AB1 23C. I was hoping for a change to seven characters so I could pick a decent vanity plate, but that would require the province to update their computer systems . So, six characters it is.

Ohh you’re totally right, my bad
